Battery Mounts

The battery mounts on the Hornet are terrible. Not only do they fall out of the Hornet and are a pain to get back int, but they easily slide around, upsetting the Hornet's critical center-of-gravity. Some people say to just use rubber bands to hold them in place, but I never figured out a good way of doing this, which allows for easy removal & replacement of the batteries.

Dave von Linsowe summated to me his implementation of a battery mount which not only holds the battery very tightly and looks good, but also makes removal and replacement a snap. Dave writes:

"The secret to making this work is the self stick Velcro between the battery and the 3/32" balsa plate.  With this setup the Velcro is always in sheer and not tension.  The balsa plate has grooves in it to match the rails so it sits a little lower."

See the pictures to the left on Dave's method.
